Makenna's Dance Recital
As a side note, she also wanted to know where her flowers were when she was done dancing... we dropped the ball on that one. Luckily, my mom and dad ran to Wal-mart and picked some up for us after and brought them to the house. We will definitely need to remember that for the spring recital.

Conversations with a 4-year Old -
Here are a few of the conversations that I have had with Makenna over the last few days. I thought they were pretty funny.
Makenna – “Daddy, I can’t wait until I’m married”
Me – “Um… Ok. When are you going to get married?”
Makenna – “When I’m six.”
Me – “Who are you going to marry?”
Makenna – “Cole.”
Me – “You should probably wait a little, honey…”
Makenna – “Dad, you’re a great dad!”
Me – “Really? Well, thanks sweetie. You’re a great daughter”
Makenna – “I am being a good girl!”
Me – “Well, it’s only eight in the morning. Are you going to be good all day today?”
Makenna – “I’m a good girl because Santa is watching. He’s always watching me”
Me – (thinking to myself… Marianne must have really driven home this “Santa” thing over the past couple of days since I’ve been gone. Does Makenna really think I’m a good Dad, or was that just her lead in to getting me to say that she was a great girl…. Hmmmm)
Makenna – “Daddy, I really miss you. I don’t want you to go to work”
Me – “Well, I have to go to work to get money. We need money so we can buy things”
Makenna – “We need money to go to Disneyland”
Me – “Yes. We do need money if we want to go do Disneyland”
Makenna – “You need to go to work now”
You can tell just by looking at her picture that she's a little sassy. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Halloween 2009
Another year has come and gone for Halloween. It feels like it has as much as a build up at our house as Christmas is every year. Makenna LOVES Halloween and has been talking about trick or treating for at least a month now. Both Makenna and Cole love to watch their Halloween movies and get so excited talking about what treats they are going to get. Makenna went trick or treating at her preschool on Thursday and also got to dress up for dance class and take treats there as well, so two days before Halloween she was already wound up about the holiday. On Halloween day we had a Birthday/Halloween party for Adam's Grandma Faye and family. It was a lot of fun and it helped to have something for the kids to do since Makenna was talking about going trick or treating since she first got up that morning. When it was finally time to go trick or treating (after begging for about an hour) Adam took the kids out while I stayed home with Ella and handed out candy.
As I watched them head down the street I could see Makenna running from door to door with Cole lagging behind from the beginning. They were gone for about an hour and a half and when they dragged back in the door, Adam was carrying their buckets and they were FULL. I have never seen such a large amount of candy for a three and four year old. Once they got to the furthest point, the kids decided that they were done and on the way back home at every house they would stop at, Cole would lay down either on the grass or on the doorstep waiting for the piece of candy. I wish that Adam would have had the camera for a picture of that. Towards the end Makenna starting doing the same thing. When they got home, Makenna just wanted to put on her pajamas. I don't think that she requests that too often.
Needless to say, the kids have more candy than they know what to do with. I usually let them eat as much as they can that first night and then really try to ration it out (or conveniently it gets thrown out...) but this year, the kids were pretty tired and each only had a few pieces that first night.

Pumpkin Carving and Leaves
On Saturday Adam had to work all day, so I loaded the kids in the car and went to my parents house for the day. The kids had so much fun with Grandma and Grandpa. My mom took them to the store and let them pick out a pumpkin for Grandpa to help them carve. We went back to her house and the carving began. Of course, their interest waned after about 3 minutes. Makenna and Cole were all excited when they got their scoops and then when it came time to clean them, it was really just me and my dad cleaning them out. I knew that would happen, oh well... Anyway, my dad let the kids decide what kind of faces they wanted on their pumpkins and he carved them for them. Luckily, children at this age are happy with simple faces and not elaborate carvings. (I am sure that will come later...) My mom had Halloween music playing and had some Halloween candy for the kids to enjoy also. I guess this is what I should be doing with my kids and not hoping that others will give my children these great memories. Oh well, there's always next year.

Sleep deprived...
Anyone have any suggestions on how to get a four month old to sleep through the night? Okay, I would even take getting a baby to get up only once a night and sleep past 4:00am. I am SO frustrated. Ella wants to go to bed at about 8:00-8:30 every night and then gets up at 12:30-1:30 to eat. She then goes back to sleep, but only until 4:30 or so and then she is up. No rocking her back to sleep, no letting he play in her crib, she wants to be up and be entertained. I started her on rice cereal thinking that would help, but to no avail. I cannot keep getting up throughout the night and then getting up for the day at 4:00 or 4:30. If you want to see a real pleasant mother, come to our house. Sorry, but I have to vent somewhere or I am going to cry... I need to keep this post so I will remember in the future if we ever think about having another baby just how much fun it really is...

Trip to the dentist!!
So, it's been a month since we took Cole in to have his tooth looked at. I have been dreading this day all week because I knew what they were going to tell me. It has to be pulled. I am so sad. I know that it is stupid to be sad about, but I am. His tooth died and he will go on antibiotics for the next ten days and bright and early next Wednesday morning, they will pull his tooth. The dentist did warn me that the shot they have to give for that area is the most painful and it will bring a grown man to tears, so I can only imagine how my little Cole Bear will feel getting it. As I am sitting here writing this I am crying, that's how bad I feel for my little guy. I may have to have Adam take him, because if I go I will cry for sure. I cried when Makenna broke her arm, so it's a given I would cry for this. The dentist has really discouraged us from getting a fake tooth there because he says they are garbage and usually break off and always need work done, so I don't know if we are going to put one there. I think that is what upsets me the most. I don't want my little three year old walking around with no tooth for the next three years. Anyway, I am sad. On the good side, both kids had their teeth cleaned and no cavities, so at least we are doing one thing right...
I will take some pictures of Cole next week after his surgery so everyone can see my little boy!!

I think I may be going crazy...
Anyone who knows me, knows that I don't handle stress well. If you don't believe me talk to Adam... anyway, we have had a couple of difficult days in my book and I thought that I would vent here.
It all started two weeks ago when I went out of the family room to go and get Makenna's hair stuff to do her hair and Cole decided he wanted to lounge on the entertainment unit. Bad idea. Right as I was walking back into the room and going over to get him off, he fell flat on his face on the entertainment unit and hit his mouth. His one front tooth shifted a very tiny bit and I have been paranoid about his tooth dying, so everyday I must ask Adam about 10 times if he thinks it looks darker. Well, two days ago it definitely started looking darker. So, yesterday I called and got an appointment at a dentist office by us and took Cole in. Yeah, that was super fun with all three kids. Anyway, the dentist said that he will watch it over the next three months, luckily, kid's teeth are more likely to heal than an adults, so there is hope that he may not lose it. If it does end up completely dying, then they will have to pull it and he will not have a front tooth until his adult teeth come in. That totally bothers me, that's at least three years away. Imagine all the pictures we'll have with only one tooth. Oh well, no sense in stressing about it until we know for sure. (Refer to the beginning of the post... I don't handle stress well.)
After going to the dentist, I hurried and came home and made a picnic for us to go and have with Adam at his work. So, we went and had lunch and them came home. Ella had her 2 month well check appointment at 3:45, so I was planning on the kids having a nap for about an hour. That didn't happen. They have really been fighting me on naptime lately, I don't know what to do. Makenna I can understand, she is four, but Cole still needs a nap. So, instead of naps off we went to Target before the doctor's appointment. Luckily, the kids were pretty good at the doctor's and Ella did great. She got a bunch of shots and is the first of my children to not get a fever from the shots. (At least she doesn't have one up to this point, so here's hoping...) Adam had to work late last night, so he didn't get home until 9:30pm, so I had all three kids by myself all day long. It was a long day. Needless to say, when they were all finally asleep, I was happy the day was over. I haven't had a busy run around day by myself with all three kids, but we survived.
This morning, as I was getting ready, Cole decided that he was still hungry after breakfast, so he decided to swallow a nickel. Yep, he came in crying about his money... guess Adam and I will be looking for a special return on investment this weekend in the bathroom. Ah, the joys of children. Anyone want a three year old boy? I will give you a great deal!! Just kidding... I think..
On a more positive note, Ella is growing like crazy. She is 10 lbs. 11 oz. (50%) and 23 inches long (90%). So, my baby is getting big fast, it makes me sad. I wish they would stay little longer, but she is smiling and starting to laugh a little which is always fun.
Makenna starts dance next Thursday, she is really excited about it. She is taking tap and ballet, I will post some pictures of her in her dance outfit next week.
I am trying to lose these blasted 20 pounds of baby weight and am exercising six days a week trying to work it off, haven't lost anything yet, but maybe all the hard work will start pay off soon.
Adam is also working out everyday. He is doing P90X, you've seen the infomercial. We'll see how he looks at the end of the three months, I thought that he looked great before, but maybe he will be an inspiration to me to keep working out and trying to do better.
I guess that I have rambled on long enough, hopefully everything will go smoother soon for us. Hopefully, Cole can make it a day without some type of medical calamity. Here's to hoping!!

Few pictures of Ella
Last weekend Adam and I tried to take some pictures of Ella, she is so cute!! (I may be a little partial, but still...) I am hoping to take her to an actual photographer soon and get some professional pictures done, but for now, these will do. I can't believe how big she is getting already. She is six weeks old today.
